For most of my 17 year career I’ve been a remote worker. My last 2 roles in corporate were 100% remote so in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic I wanted to provide some quick tips on how to make the most of your time working from home. If you have others drop them in the comments!

  1. Create A Safe Work Space — this way you set boundaries for others in your home. When you are in your “office” it’s the signal for work and when you leave your “office” leave the work there.
  1. Check Your Bandwidth — Use speedtest.net or their Mobile all to make sure your internet speeds are up to par for video conferencing. This may mean you won’t be able to stream your favorite Netflix show and work… it’s ok you’re supposed to be at work.

3. Limit Your Distractions — Just because you’re working from home it doesn’t mean you’re “home.” Try and resist the urge to do all the little tasks and chores you’ve been meaning to get to.

4. Keep A Schedule — if you workout in the morning, have breakfast, and kick off your day with a morning call don’t abandon the schedule you’ve created for yourself.

5. Eat — it’s very easy to forget to eat when working from home. You will look up and if will be 4p and you will completely have forgotten lunch. Make sure you are eating and practicing good self-care.
